AST was like 49 and ALT was like 45. I think the upper normal limit for both is like 40. When it’s just fatty liver (the first stage of the continuum) it’s still reversible. Also at that first stage they can’t definitely say if it’s booze or something else, but I am a heavy drinker so I think I know what it is. I guess I will have to cut down.

You probably have fatty liver which still isn’t too bad. When you get to the second stage is when you can’t really reverse it. You should get an ultrasound. You might be ok. The blood tests alone are not enough for a diagnosis.

You need more tests. Like I said you might be fine. My ultrasound was (in the doctor’s words) “unremarkable.” So I went right back to the sauce. Probably not wise but whatever.

Mine were also elevated, I went nodrink for a month and retested and they were fine, so now I am yesdrink. Just sober up for a month and retest
