Anyone else noticing this? I live in a major city known for food and the quality across the board from fast food to fine dining is all bad. It’s obvious that American service and value for money has dropped drastically but the food itself is also just terrible these days.

yes, most restaurants are trying to serve the same things and it generally isn't worth it, I'll go out for cheap mexican, good bar food, or decent sushi, that's about it, I have probably not dined in a chain restaurant in years

Value has dropped a lot.

It’s $120-180 to go to dinner with wife and 2 kids (maybe a drink or beer each - not doing it up). Date nights are lol expensive.

For actual value you have to go to a fast casual place or taqueria. Even at Indian or Chinese places shit has slipped up to $15-18/dish. One $16 ladle of chana masala from the enormous pot and two pieces of roti from the steam tray for $4, please.

My favorite Indian buffets closed or went to a la carte only during Covid and haven’t come back. :(

Yeah. Those closed near me during Covid and are a la carte / DoorDash slop shops now.

There was an upscale one by me that was low $20s but it had chaat stations, fresh food always coming out, in addition to the staples. It was awesome.

Agreed. It’s really not. Once you get 10 spices and the basics down you’re set. You also then realize how much oil and ghee they’re using. It wasn’t that long ago when you could get a few $8-10 dishes and get three meals for two of it. Now it’s twice as expensive.
