Happened to me once during a storm. Got close to the ground and all of a sudden went full power and nose up fast. All the flight attendants had a worried look on their faces. Pilot said there was a big gust of wind and had to abort. Was a peak experience.

This happened to me not once - but twice, too. Wind shear is a common reason for aborted landings.

Happened to me twice in a row when landing in Seattle in February one year. Pilot said taking off that there was freezing rain in Seattle and then added, "This will be interesting."

There was also a blanket of fog and you couldn't see the ground until about 100 feet above it.

First time, pilot apologized and said there was another plane on the runway so we had to abort the landing.

Circled around a few times, same thing, this time the pilot didn't come on the P.A.

Plane was completely silent the entire time.

Go arounds are actually not uncommon, I was on one where an aircraft failed to vacate the runway in an expedient manner for us to land.

The triple 7 is the finest commercial aircraft ever built. It was the last of the pre McDonald Douglas take over. Boeing really went to shit after that. The 757 is all of the good parts of a 767 minus the wide body bullshit. You could make a case for the 727 but not really. I worked the ramp in college. I always liked a 757. Everything just worked, and controls were in the right spot. I don't know how to explain it.
