We're literally promoting the unchecked development of a technology that may bring about The Matrix because we don't want to fall behind in a pointless rivalry with chinks across the world who don't especially hate us much or think about us or even really have antagonistic interests to us (nor we them). Of course if shit's looking like an Us vs. Them situation then we'll fight to the death. What's happening in Gaza will look like a spa, etc.
And yeah we've eradicated species, incl. charismatic large fauna, from the earth for far more trivial/accidental reasons. |
