The Lagos light rail (Lagos Rail Mass Transit) is a Lagos State Government project managed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). The state government planned, funded much of it, and oversees the system.
However, the main construction was carried out by the Chinese state-owned company China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC):
Blue Line: Built by CCECC under a design-and-build contract starting in 2009.
Red Line: Also built by CCECC, with construction beginning in 2021 before opening in 2024.
So, in short:
Owner/developer: Lagos State Government (through LAMATA)
Main builder: CCECC (China)
Trains: The Blue Line uses electric trains manufactured by the Chinese company CRRC Dalian. |
