MFCR. Plato received an elite education, and served in the elite cavalry during the Peloponnesian war (reserved for citizens who could afford horses). Used his family money to buy the land to establish the Academy, which he ran without charging tuition. Also financed his own decade long travels across the Mediterranean.

Confucius: Born into the Shi class.

Plato's culture and society got wiped out and died. Literature, craftsmanship, everything gone. The people living in Greece today have no connection to those people

It's the Catholic Church who told you that Plato and Aristotle were foundational. They told you Socrates was some kind of proto-Christian who believed in salvation of the spirit

Yeah for sure, the culture definitely got wiped out considering Plato, Aristotle and other Greeks are still read worldwide and considered the foundation of everything.

"People living in Greece have no connection to these people" is also silly, because the same can be said about any ancient culture.

Egypt has this same issue. Actually even worse. Part of it is that people are looking at foreign classicism and comparing it to the average Greek. But I wouldn't say it's false that Greeks care about their ancient history and culture. Plenty of them do.

You can't show a modern Greek person an archaeological dig from 3,000 BC and have it feel familiar to him. The Chinese culture ran uninterrupted so that it still carries authentic tradition from that era. Chinese people encountering Confucius today are unfortunately receiving only the state-sanctioned interpretation, but that's not new - the Analects have always been read selectively by anyone in power. But they've been read continuously

They are also much more pacifist than anything written between the New Testament and the 17th century. They're really part of a broader effort to avoid war. And in that sense too the Analects have been more successful than Plato. You don't see ANYONE in the western tradition really question the sanity of neverending war until Grotius. Western philosophers really only decided about 50 years ago that war is bad, and even now not really

Ok bro give your definition of what cultural and historical continuity actually mean and we can do a comparative analysis. I think it’s highly likely you aren’t doing historiography and are just overfitting whatever evidence you can to make it seem like China is the civilization with True Continuity. But let’s see your definition.

"Chinese civilization is the oldest continuous civilization in the world, with origins dating back over 4,000 years. It began in the Neolithic period along the Yellow and Yangtze river valleys, eventually coalescing into early, organized societies."

180 ai hallucination. There was no single political entity called China persisting for 4,000 years. The modern territory and political identity of China cannot simply be projected backward onto every society that existed within some portion of today’s borders.
