GC's generally dont read the email that gets sent to them. These are dudes that get 10,000 emails a day. They have an administrative office or an executive office that filters that shit for them with both software filters and human filters. At some smaller banks the Office of the Corporate Secretary also filters emails for executives. At other banks emails to the GC get routed through the subpoena team instead. The only certainty is they run filters on the emails and that the GC himself wont be reading your resume. The only emails that probably go straight to the GC are emails from the CEO.

Now who you want to email are ED's and MD's within legal with hiring authority. Not every ED/MD has hiring authority. Many are just old dudes doing the same work as a VP but who would never accept a VP title. These faggots dont get fancy email filters or armies of admins to read their email for them and half of those dudes in their email sigs dont say "Managing Director" they just say "Assistant General Counsel" because they dont want to be called in for depositions on their "Managing Director" functions. So good luck separating them from the run of the mill VP-AGC who has no hiring authority. Usually the MDs who stick "MD" in their email sig are the front facing ones with relationship managing functions. These duders are the least likely to have hiring authority within legal. The lawyers who talk directly to outside firms are the lowest form of life in-house.

I should add that if all you do is apply for in-house opening from LinkedIn ads or shit like that you will never get hired. Emailing hiring attorneys directly with some story about how you got their email address (friend of a friend, blah, blah, blah) is your best bet if you dont actually know anyone. 95% of in-house gigs go to people the hiring attorney already knows. Your best bet is to sell them on some tangential connection and hope you kill it at the interview, but dont tell them you are one of their doc review slaves.

Funny you say that, since I got my current job through an online application and am on the final round of another in-house job that I also applied for online.

There is in-house and there is in-house. Many companies has shit JD-preferred positions that a shitlaw doc review type can try for. Many of these positions are electronic discovery related or close enough. The people processing third party subpoenas arent doing doc review but its not that different and the candidate pool is the same too. Etc....

InHouse trans bro here. GC won't read it. Doc review isn't a desired skill. So, unless he was lathamed at some point he prbly won't have the desired skills for an inhouse tranny position at a big company. I've received random emails from ppl asking for me to forward a resume, asking for a job, etc. Normally from TT schools. I'll delete them. I've met with 3 ppl for coffee to talk about how to get inhouse. But, I was always tell them that I have no hiring authority (although my boss does).

I've also met XO ppl off and helped them out when able.

Yea, he won't get much traction unless the GC or person he emailed has the same beginning. Ppl from TTTs tend to stick together and dislike T14ers.
