I have a mismatched set of echo, Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Ryobi gas tools. All are old now. Considering going all in on one battery manufacturer.

Ego? Milwaukee? Greenworks?

To start I'm thinking hedger, trimmer, leaf blower, maybe a small chain saw. Not a lawn mower, I'm set with that.

Well thanks for nothing to everyone who didn't help. I went with DeWalt because it's the only one I already had a battery for. Got myself a trimmer and an edger.

Sorry for the late response and thanks for following up - last week was a bit hectic with a hearing. Circling back, I have a Ryobi saw, blower, etc, that are decent enough but for the more "intensive" ones like weed eater and tree limb trimmer, it goes thru batteries very fast.

There are a lot of TikToks were contractors make fun of newbs for using Ryobi.

costcos sells greenworks so thats what i use. i've had a battery mower, trimmer, hedger, and tiller for 5 years now with zero issues.

not having to deal with gas is 180. i'm sure gas is better, but for a 1/3 acre battery works fine.

We have about 1 acre cleared and I have an unnecessarily large tractor to mow it. But these lawn tools I only need for touching things up around the house, I think battery will be fine. I got a 5 ah battery and the edger in particular tore through shit faster than my old gas unit

oh yeah you're fine then i'd say. you can always get extra batteries if you want redundancy. i have two chargers and four batteries, and they charge about as fast as they get spent, so i'm never out. meanwhile the gas tools i have it's always "fuck i gotta go get oil", "fuck i gotta get gas", "fuck did i put gas or gas+oil in?", "fuck maybe the spark plugs dead."

I have a Ryobi weed whacker and Ego mower. Both are fine, plenty powerful for the suburban lawn care I use them for, and are still going decently strong after 5-10 years with the original batteries. But, I do wish the Ryobi weed whacker battery lasted a little longer.

I bring the batteries inside when not in use, which may contribute to their longevity.
