This has been a position that I have shifted on over time.
I think OP is entirely consistent. Complete access to every idea is not intrinsically good. There are many ideas/medias which we rightfully view as good to restrict.
For example as a good parent, one would censor their kid from porn.
The principle here is not that everyone should have access to every idea, no matter how twisted or perverse it is.
Instead we need to assume that the state's legitimate role (if there even is one - obviously I don't think there should be, but lets beg the question for a second) is to seek the common good. It is not to allow citizens unfettered access to everything. In that context, getting rid of CRT in public schools is fully justified.
