The truth is, he was born in America, is an American citizen, does not have Korean citizenship or a Korean passport and cannot speak Korean. He is living abroad like any other sad sexpat that was exiled from their homeland due to no romantic prospects. Since his ancestry is Korean, he could get Korean citizenship, but in order to do so, all Korean "males" under 35 must complete mandatory military service.
