I suspect it's because people in iran are as online as the diaspora and his supporters have become more agressive and somewhat successful in pushing him as The Only Real Leader of the opposition. i personally have no confidence in him as a leader, and doubt he'll ever set foot in iran but we'll see what unfolds.
I wouldn't go as far as saying most iranians are zionists, but there is a vocal group of iranians that are just pro israel because this idea that the the regime has been wasting money that should go to the iranian people and economy to fund hamas. it's kinda analagous to how some americans feel angry about us spending billions on Israel when our country is kinda shitty in a lot of ways (but they don't care either way about the morality or outcome of israel-palestine). Palestinians were also huge supporters of Saddam and Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war so there's some animosity towards palestinian for that reason, and perhaps some general hatred towards anything that looks like "Islamic terrorism" and reminds them of the regime's oppression. |

iran has an interesting relationship with jews. i think most iranians, even more than most muslims who are similar, don't hate jews, they hate israel and zionism. iran iirc had the highest population of jews in the middle east before all this. |
