rental car companies realized people were willing to pay $150/day for rentals. so instead of buying more rental cars, they just decided to keep doing what they were doing and charge $150/day for rentals.

So while SOME people will occasionally pay that, the reality is that if they keep that model they'll end up closing most locations, fire most people working there.
