One thing I've learned only fairly recently in my life is that very few people actually have any real beliefs about anything. People just Say Stuff like they believe it, but they don't at all. They're not even really fully aware of what they're saying. They're not even usually trying to communicate anything related to the topic at hand, but are instead just emoting or socially signaling or ape back-scratching etc
I think that the right way to understand, for example, people discussing Israel assassinating Kirk is that they're just socializing with each other, and nobody even really cares about the topic or has any real opinion on it. It's just a social ritual. Nothing more nothing less |
