Only through sheer willpower or gamefaqs can you convince yourself to keep playing after hitting your first dead end. Nothing is in it for you as a player to keep playing. Also, remember that Metroid was always some also-ran bastard franchise like Kirby prior to Super Metroid. Even Super Metroid was made by the same random development team as Mario Paint, it was never an AAA game. Prime got a ton of good press because Nintendo needed it because TTT gamecube was flopping, and they paid good money for it. Metroid Prime is the Oscar bait of video games. It even has "Prime" in the title in order to convince you that it's good. It's like, "The Prestige" or something. Miyamoto had nothing to do with any Metroid game, he was just in America throwing his weight around and they changed the entire game around, probably causing delays in the process. Two or three forgotten sequels later and here we are. Miyamoto's bosses were none the wiser of his shenanigans because no one buys MeTTTroid games in Japan. |

Anyway, I think that Miyamoto's inevitable promotion into the Executive ranks is why Nintendo faltered starting with the Gamecube. He was heavily involved with Zelda: Ocarina of Time which is one reason why it was so good imo. It's so hyped that the latter games became overrated.... basically everything after has missed the mark somewhat except BOTW. Even Wind Waker apologists will admit that TP was laughable imho, felt like a Chinese clone of Zelda. Nintendo/azns aren't really good at "ideas" in general and should just make a GTA clone imo. |
