The best way to get a sense for how good/bad the city is doing is to just take a long walk. Through the TL. Through Civic Center/Mission/Van Ness/Market.
I do this every 3-4 months. Some recent thoughts:
- TL feels cleaner. - Homelessness / tents are definitely down. - Union Square feels good (but not great yet). - North SOMA is hopping. South SOMA patchy.
Feels like a LOT of progress.
The most annoying thing is the literal amount of s**t on the streets. Feels like low hanging fruit is to clean that up.

True, no more tents due to the law passed 1.5 years ago, but all that means is the bums are now being house in Single Residence Occupancies all around the city which is a complete blight of its own kind |
