Lol obviously, thats kinda my point. Its possible for you to do but requires a great deal of commitment and drive which is the hard part. Im not knocking you for it, i wouldn't have that drive to learn a language voluntarily either (and have still been working on just one foreign language for years). but people who tell you its a pipe dream are just wrong.
you should check out the polyglots on youtube who acquire languages very quickly. they blow right through the conventional wisdom that it takes X long to learn a new language, and they aren't geniuses.

state dept has an estimated time frame for how long to become fluent and for chink i thin it was veddy long i cannot remmeber ill ask fagGPT rofl itsnot just 1 year:
You're probably referring to the **U.S. State Department's Foreign Service Institute (FSI) language difficulty rankings**, which estimate how long it takes an English-speaking learner to reach **"Professional Working Proficiency"** (equivalent to CEFR B2/C1).
For **Mandarin Chinese**, here's what the FSI says:
---
### 🇨🇳 **Mandarin Chinese – FSI Estimate**
* **Category IV / V (Most Difficult)**
* **Estimated time to proficiency:**
**2,200 class hours**
(about **88 weeks** or **1.7 years** of full-time study)
---
### 🏁 What does this time include?
* Studying **25 hours/week in class**, plus homework.
* Immersive environment recommended for best results.
* This estimate assumes **dedicated full-time learners** (e.g., U.S. diplomats at the Foreign Service Institute).
---
### 💬 For Comparison:
| Language | Hours to Fluency | Category |
| --------------------------------- | ---------------- | -------------- |
| Spanish, French | \~600–750 hours | I |
| Russian, Turkish | \~1,100 hours | III |
| Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean | \~2,200 hours | IV/V (hardest) |
---
If you're a traveler or casual learner, getting to **basic conversational fluency** (A2/B1) usually takes **500–800 hours** — still a serious investment.
Let me know if you want tailored learning tips for Mandarin, or shortcuts if you’re just aiming to survive while traveling in China.
