So then, yes, one of the biggest and most profitable tech companies in the world ($15B in profit last year), based in the Bay Area, is offering people who spend 4 years in UG, 3 years in LS, and at least 1 more year working as a lawyer, under $100k. But they "may" be eligible for a bonus.

It's a fully remote low-level shit-inhouse position requiring only 1 year of experience -- with a good brand name attached. Actual total comp is likely at least $150k.

Literally 95%+ of TTT grads 1 year out of law school would be very happy getting this job.

Actually yes. No one actually talented wants to work in procurement. I’m sure the actual pay is like 150-200k and they just put a huge range so that existing employees don’t get mad as fuck when they realize a new employee will make more $ than them

What does Oracle's profits have to do with how much they want to pay inexperienced supply chain counsel? They probably don't pay janitors more than anyone else either

It's indicative of the legal hiring market, and the job market more generally, that 5 figures is in the listed range for professional, white collar job at a profitable, major company.

No shit. Every year law schools churn out way more grads than there are jobs. And with GenAI improvements half of the existing jobs are going away within 20 years.

many if not most of these shitty in-house jobs at giant companies are glorified diligence monkey email jobs that will quietly outsource to india and then fully AI inside of ten years. they're rarely hiring anyone at $90K or whatever but all these companies have legions of zero substantive experience drips parked in front of computers bobbling their heads and checking boxes all day. see TMF and ARE reptile for examples of the fine minds required by corp diligence monkey jobs.

Why hire whatever lawyer $97k gets you? You could hire a "contracts manager" or something instead.

Most contracts managers make more than that. I can guarantee you this job doesn’t pay 97k. It’s just listed as a range for HR reasons.
