In another thread I discuss my recent decision to "update" the BIOS and groaned about the level of effort required to set things right, but it's doing some weird shit that I truly just can't figure out. Every time I start the computer I get this enormous banner that says "whoa brother, I see you have Game Boost turned on. I hope you know that can fuck your shit up," then it boots normally. I figured Game Boost was some shit I could disable in BIOS, but then I went looking for it and couldn't find it. Then I googled Reddit and found that Game Boost is some bullshit that you enable through a Windows app. People also said that it's shitty and will wreck your system.

First of all, why does a montherboard come preconfigured with a setting known to break components?

But second, I made sure to scrub all of MSI's virusware out of windows a year ago, so there's no way I could have enabled Game Boost just a few days ago when I updated the BIOS. It looks like the board is just permanently stuck in Game Boost mode and it's going to be a cancer that destroys all my other components.

The new bios probably had a hook to download and install gameboost. Crazy but i've seen an asus board do something similar with Armoury-Crate. I was Appalled and had no idea such a thing was possible.

Good thinking, but I couldn't even boot windows then it first happened, and I disabled that setting while I was troubleshooting it. I also a double check to make sure nothing has been installed.

I ignored it at first for that reason. I figured it would just go away on the next reboot. Maybe I should start gaming on this computer, so I can at least take advantage of Game Boost while the computer still works.
