I know blades are less forgiving but wouldn't I just get used to it after a couple weeks

I want to upgrade my Callaway edge irons but don't want GI if I'll seek out blades later anyway

most GI irons I've tried just go too high and spin too much and don't actually improve my game.

There are a ton of really nice players irons that sit between GI and blades.

The only distinction that matters is forged vs non-forged for irons

What you're really asking is should I get uglier irons that make me better now, or less ugly ones that I might be better with one year from now.

You're overthinking it imo because the best GI sets look like "blades" in 2024: ai smoke, qi10, g430,JPX 923 hot metals. My GBB 23 irons are super GI and way lower profile than your edges.

Btw I just went through this process and went with 923 HL that I'm building from scratch. My current GBB 23 irons are amazing and almost too forgiving and long. I don't want extra distance anymore and only care about accuracy/dispersion now. But it will be a great backup set for windy days or when buddy is in town.

TLDR; go get fitted and avoid OS/chunky looking shit

Yeah you’re probably right. Main benefit of blades seems to be the look but there are plenty of sleek GI options now.

Definitely will get fitted next time. Don’t wanna spend that much for an off the shelf deal.

Man, those are some expensive clubs. Especially the “value” used TM for $1300. I have a bias for Titleist, I don’t know why. If I was spending that much that’s definitely what I’d get.

Titleist is highly prestigious in my mind too. Longest product life cycle of any major brand iirc. Their whole family of brands is 180: Footjoy, Vokey, Scotty Cameron, Club Glove, KJUS.

I would still look at Mizuno for irons

They look nice. I just ordered a set of markdown Jet Black SM9 wedges. When I was in Scottsdale last year, my two buds and I got paired with a dude rocking the 1/500 limited edition blue Mizuno irons (pre-Azalea) and they were so fucking fire. There been in my head ever since.

I know what you mean. My dream vacation is to get fitted in Japan for the next ultra limited color forged Mizuno irons.

Jet black SM9 60.14k is currently my favorite LW.

But I got that before the T24 in blue ion came out..

Skeet skeet. Mizuno fitting in Japan would be dope. I got to do five days at Bandon last month. Shit was 180^180.

If you have to ask, then you have no business buying blades. Get the new hollow construction that’s all the rage. P790, etc.

3.5 handicap here. Mizuno JPX 923 Forged changed my golf game more than any other golf club over a 25 year period. Hit these irons consistently 5-8 yards longer than my forged AP2's. Forgiving too on thin hits. Other than irons, the hazardous smoke 60g shaft on any modern driver (stealth, tsr2, sim2, paradym etc) is the second most important. FYI my driver swing speed is 108-110. Im not a huge bomber. Cleveland rtx or vokey wedges are pretty much the same. I prefer the rtx. Odyssey putter's white face is so consistent I haven't left it. Get the #7 or something heavy with a 1.5 or 2.0 super stroke grip.
