Date: June 11th, 2025 12:22 PM Author: maniacal hell I lived for a summer with an old dude and his demented (alzheimers) wife. she wasn’t verbal at all by then. she would always smile at him and was generally happy everywhere. he would watch their wedding videos (his 2nd marriage, his first wife died of cancer) with her every night. he didn’t object to staying by her side at home or out and about and didn’t ask ppl to watch her for him so he could have some me time/self care/whatever bullshit you want to describe being selfish as.
I’m not saying there aren’t plenty of demented folks who get treated reasonably well and still turn into assholes, but that whole experience did make me wonder if a lot of the rage comes from being treated poorly and discarded by others. |
