Me, too. Also chopsticks are superior for things with slices of meat.

Think about how prole a knife actually is. It means you're so prole you don't have a servant to pre-cut your food for you. Chopstick usage with meat means you're preftigious enough to pay someone to cut your meat for you. It's one step removed from being so rich someone puts the food in your mouth for you.

Hangul is by far the most preftigious and scholarly writing system in the world. It actually reflects linguistic reality (voicing a consonant involves adding an extra line, the symbols representing vowels actually correspond to where in your mouth you produce the sound, etc)

This is a pretty funny and probably COP.

On the flipside, I've heard that the classical Chinese writing/language is so insightful and advanced, that people who understand it have massive amounts of wisdom. It supposedly distills wisdom from the ages into these short paragraphs, and almost creates the impression that everything worth being said has already been said.

Not sure about the other kinds of Asian languages though.

It's all shorthand and classical allusions. Like a cross between that Star Trek next gen episode where they meet aliens whose entire language is metaphor and copious use of xo memes to write. (This is restricted to a discussion of literary Chinese in classical texts, which is separate from Chinese as a spoken language.)

Anyway you round eyes are hopelessly out of your depths here trying to comprehend an older, more advanced, superior civilization. The first mistake you make is trying to discuss a hypothetical pan-NE Asia civilization that never existed. Chinese Japanese Korean languages took VASTLY different historical paths - makes sense given they aren't remotely related to each other

syntactically unrelated but naturally K and J borrow heavily from Chinese vocab, but interestingly Chinese reverse-borrowed vocab from J after J surpassed them - I read some stat a few years back that an insanely high % of modern Mandarin is loan words from Japanese (but that the J words are made with Mandarin compounds)

like imagine if the Pope borrowed "computer" from English to use in his Latin mass or something, English coined the word computer, but it's obviously using a Latin compound
