it's not, it's just a pretty standard noir film
glad i saw it because xo has referenced it so many times, i guess. gosling basically just stood there -- his acting was so flat. film colors were too dark. the husband getting out of prison did a good job, oscar isaac
i'd rate it a solid 6.5/10, overhyped |

it's the male version of Twilight, which similarly perfected the formula of using a completely normal, plain, wooden female as the female lead so that normal white girls could project themselves onto the character |
