Trump kept saying wait two weeks, sending a very clear message to Russia that he would cave on it but couldn’t say so publicly because the US is largely pro-UKR. Now he’s got Rubio saying they won’t even bother with them. The whole thing is a song and dance to assist Russia while maintaining some plausible deniability. The impact would be immediate. Punishing companies and countries that facilitate the Russian ghost ship fleet would put a big dent in their war machine. The admin has no problem attacking allies with punishing tariffs. There’s no plausible explanation for this. The current framework has Russia taking territory they don’t occupy and have no hope of ever taking in the near future.
