I have a friend of a friend who actually makes millions off of this exact thing, selling fraudulent products to get customer information and sell it. It is scummy as fuck, and the guy is a huge douchebag.

(it's really long so I won't paste text, but trust me, it's a great read)

Once you get further into it you find out that the author bought some of these products himself. It's just some dude who got burned throwing a hissy fit and crying "scam" (although the industry he's talking about is indeed somewhat scammy).

Nothing. Its not even an online scam. The dude visited him in the hospital and everything was over the phone.

Not only is it a long winded and uninteresting article, it's also poorly researched. Look up the dude's "impartial" source "Salty Droid," in two seconds you'll see that it is itself an internet marketing outfit using an anti-internet-marketing angle to sell products.

I mostly saw "hey this is long, the verge is usually good, and I know a douche who does this shit so it'll probably be interesting" but it's so convoluted (I posted this before finishing it)

now fuck my ass
