Date: September 7th, 2014 3:36 PM Author: fluffy school cafeteria idea he suggested i was at the 116th street subway platform a few days ago, going home after class. 2 CLS students were next to me: a gay asian guy and an asian girl. the girl had this annoying cali valley girl accent, and it was revealed that she did uc berkeley undergrad. she was talking about going to a swanky party and how CLS students got special treatment. she then starts ripping on her friend who is at georgetown law and how gtown is "shitty" and doesn't have interesting smart students. my gawd. it was like the worst of XO in the flesh.

Who knows the precise reasons, but there's a tremendous amount of narcissism and elitism in our best school's students. That's what makes it so frustrating when they straight up lie about their interest in helping other people. They just want to do whatever it is to move up in their perceived rat race. For most of them that means making the most amount of money and living in the most prestigious zip codes. Fuck everyone else. Fuck you, fuck me, fuck America, fuck their classmates. Whatever it takes to get to the top.
And there's also some small kernel of self-doubt and need. If you spend your whole life striving, what is the point if those who are "below" you get to feel like they are on the same level? Of course a CLS student thinks the lower ranked, lower LSAT median Georgetown are "shitty." |

XO has made the point before that ultimately law is not a difficult "thing" to do. So heuristics become increasingly important to establish the industry's hierarchy.
