Date: December 14th, 2020 12:31 PM Author: Rose Spectacular Locale Half-breed I was with my main boss for 10 years, and despite some complaints I had about my job, he was a good friend and mentor. I helped him with some personal things, even went to his house to help with stuff, and I helped him a lot with a lot of internal firm issues (employees, hiring people, etc, I even hosted a bunch of people at my HOUSE for a Christmas party for co-workers) that came up and made his life a ton easier. When I left firm last February, he was pretty pissed - I think he expected me to be his heir apparent at the firm. He didn't go to my going away lunch, for example.
Since then I still forward him court filings and stuff on cases where my email address still gets notice, have exchanged a few "hope you are well" emails.
Had a case come up recently that had some really weird fact patterns, and I needed help. 11 days ago, I sent my old boss an email asking if I could have a little of his time to discuss the case. He would have been the perfect person to help me on this one, just answering a few questions. No response. Luckily I since settled the case. Today, he sends me some bitchy response about how December is his busiest month, that I am well trained to handle matters like this, and that if I still need help he can take a short call after 6pm on several days this week. Sure he finally "offered to help" but it was a shitty response and intentionally way too late (I told him in the email when my trial date was, which was literally today, which makes this response even shittier).
Really steaming over this. Also another senior partner who I was on good terms with, who repeatedly checked in on me since I left the firm and offered to help if I ever needed it, also ignored several of my voicemails and emails for assistance.
Sucks to be alone out there, getting dicked by people you trusted and did a lot for yourself. |

If I had a CLE and had to take a day off I'd ask him to cover a client call and it was like pulling fucking teeth."I DONT HAVE THE [paper] FILE!" And he'd always call me immediately after and tell me the client wants to talk to him more than me. Also not true because back then all of our clients were personal friends/family members of mine.
