Ex-roommate/ex-friend owes me over $8K. How to proceed?

Date: February 2nd, 2022 3:46 PM Author: metal stage I was the only fucking ADULT with a checkbook, so I wrote the rent checks every month and he was supposed to pay me. He kept saying he'd start paying me back the next month but I only saw $400 in 11 months before I got up the balls to kick him out. (Gave him a very specific ultimatum which he was unable to fulfill.) He moved out in November.
I did have him sign a sublease beforehand to avoid a situation like this, but I only dated it for the rest of the lease, and we ended up renewing. Will that matter? I also have a lot of FB messages and emails detailing what he owes me.
He's actually making $$ now, but he's ignored my FB messages for over a month. What do? |

He said I was being crazy and took out his phone to record me. By that time, I had calmed down and was speaking in a normal voice. So he took a two-minute video of him SCREAMING at me that I was just talking normally because he was taking a video, while I sat calmly. Really embarrassing. |
