Rate my Michelin dinner I took my staff to tonight - Mori Sushi (CSLG)

I take my staff out to amazing meals regularly, and tonight is no exception. Dropped about $2,100 after tip on this 180 dinner. Took out Mohamed, Daniel, Karim, one of my lawyer friends, and my wife.
I have done Urasawa, Sushi Ginza, and N/Naka and Sushi Mori definitely can hang with the big boys. This one star Michelin restaurant has no sign outside and it could be easy to miss driving by. There is just a photo of a fish above a shitty door on the corner of a busy intersection.
The first round was great and included crab, abalone, oysters, unagi, and yam tempura. It was followed up by a 180 fish soup with crab meat.
Then came a series of 16 pieces of nigiri sushi. The usual suspects included toro, sweet shrimp, scallops, red snapper, and blue fin tuna. There wasn't a single bad piece and I washed it down with some Asahi super dry.
For desert we got a some sticky rice balls that were basically mochi (without the ice cream).
Overall it was one of my favorite sushi meals and definitely one I will repeat in the future.

So I tend to do a lot of those. I also really like chain restaurants. Island's is one of my top 3 all time favorite places to eat. I'm a big fan of French too and have hit Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, and Providence. |
