1) this is literally the first time we've seen footage of someone using these weapons systems the Ukranians were supposedly using on day 1. For two weeks we've seen charred remains with nothing to explain what proceeded it, or with explanations that don't line up with what we're seeing. In most cases, it's pretty clear we're seeing videos taken by randos who stumbled across the aftermath of an event they never actually witnessed, and that no one reported at the time.
2) We are seeing this footage <24 hours after, but not one minute before, 5pm EST on March 4. |

Fundamentally, it's no different from xo. The government has a number of safeguards in place to protect internal deliberations from public disclosure, along with civil service laws and whistleblower rights to protect people from retaliation just because they voiced an opinion. It's not a conspiracy theory to speculate that many in Washington want war, the govt is just full of people who see mushroom clouds whenever they hear the word "Russia." That's how they really talk.
It's not just Russia either. The first time you are asked to come up with a solution to a problem, you immediately jump to the easiest solution. For the government the easiest solution for any problem is usually to just kill people and lie about it, so the first question anyone asks is "can we do that?" You only move on to alternatives if the answer is no |
