It's essential to GC business model that nothing truly inspiring or innovative ever happens. The main reason for this is that they need life to be a joyless slog for working white collar adults. It's kind of like being in coach on an airplane. No one really thinks first class is that great, it's just great because coach sucks. They need life to be miserable so you believe that consooming holds all the answers.
The other reason is that they need to forcememe tech and finance as the only growth sectors of the economy. To elites, the only thing that matters is tech companies innovating, and the financial instruments that derive from the disruption. The truth is that tech has not fundamentally benefitted anyone in any way except for the shareholders of tech companies. As much of a "genius" as Elon is, his most profitable venture is just cars. Like, we already had cars. Social media did not reinvent socialization. In fact, in all instances it made life worse for everyone.
The reason this pertains to great art dying is that great art is inherently transcendent and uplifting. If you had too many experiences that made you feel alive you would immediately quit your GC hellscape job and demand a low cost way of life that did not solely exist to grow wealth for a small group of investors and tech entrepreneurs at the top while everyone else suffered in misery. They cannot let that happen.
Also they figured out how to make record profits off of music and movies that suck completely by making it impossible to consume anything substantive. By offering no Choice, the consumer has been conditioned to expect nothing great. Also the West is all third world mud people who have no affinity for the Anglo American cultural tradition of making mind blowing music and movies. Imagine showing The Godfather to a Mexican they wouldn't get it. These people think the Disney versions of Star Wars are better because they have better special effects. You can't teach the western canon of storytelling to these people the same way the Conquistadors couldn't explain the Bible to the Indians. It's over.

There was an huge amount of good TV made in the last ten years, and streaming also prompted literally hundreds of awesome documentaries to be made. Fewer features but definitely some solid ones. But eg a show like Mindhunter was 1) fantastic, and 2) sucking up all the time and energy of one of the five greatest living directors, so movies naturally took a hit. There were other cool things, though, like Ryan Murphy doing all of his American Crime Story shows. But in general, v TV series, making movies and music that succeeded in the new winner take all hyper distributed market for larger audiences became harder and harder, especially when so many of the best release dates on the calendar were filled up with new iterations of big tent pole IP like Star Wars, Marvel, DC etc.

The His Name is Robert Paulson guy was fantastic and if you couldn’t enjoy his performance opposite Graff you should probably just not try to watch anything on TV and maintain your strict regimen of 20 hours of megapoasting per day. For the rest of you I’ll throw out another example of a show that’s awesome and wildly underrated: The Americans.
Anyway you guys are being huge faggots about this and talking past the more basic point I made that probably 40% of the 50 best TV shows ever came out in the last 10 years during the peak of streaming content budgets.

Part of it is definitely Hollywood going even more woke.
But I think the business model of Hollywood has to be to blame at this point.
Studios are investing only in expensive movies, which means only less risky movies are made (sequels and comic books and reboots).
The streaming platforms seem like you had have some great TV shows - but the quality is a noticeable drop off from the 2000s era. I'm not sure why - too many shows, assuming everyone will watch every episode in order, shows becoming more niche -- but the results are in, and streaming shows suck compared to 2000 era HBO, Showtime, AMC shows - and probably even compared to network dramas at the time.

it's the chinese middle class market that made movies recently drop off a cliff. hollywood is now making movies for the chinese market as well, and chinese are stupid as fuck.
music is still going, i think. at a lower level than the 90s, but still kinda going.
tv is at a pretty high level right now, still, i think.

more than anything its that the people running the industry are just incompetent now imo.
somebody poasted a graphic here not long ago showing the changes in racial and gender ratios in hollywood jobs(producer director writer etc) over the past decades and it was insane. add in that so many of the "white" males that somehow get those jobs these days are nepotism retards and its no wonder everything sucks
