For some Euorpean countires if you have an unbroken heritage where your great parents or whoever was the first to come here, not sure if there was a limit on how far it goes back, didn't become American citizens before getting pregnant then you could officially declare citizenship. I can't do it because this doesn't apply to me unfortunately. But I wish it did. If you have ancestors who immigratered here more recently like grandparents or parents then you should look into this. Pretty sure mine came way before my great grandparents and I don't really feel like looking into it anyway because I'm lazy and I just know its never going to happen even if I figure out the info. When I looked this up I remember there being lawyers and companies on the internet who will do all the research for you and see if you qualify and file all the necessary paperwork.

I think a lot of people like the idea but their life circumstances make it difficult. If you have family, kids or spouse then all of them would need to be on board with it too. Lots of people get home sick too. The culture is pretty different. Your life will feel different. No more talking to coworkers constantly about sports, no going to casual sports bars or ultra casual brunches or dinners. No throwing sweatpants on to go to the grocery store. More than likely won’t even have a drying machine. Then throw in language barrier and some people are ready to go back to the U.S. pretty quickly just to regain their place in everything |
