In 2022, Congress ordered (literally, they told the government to do it) a five-year multi-agency longitudinal analysis of VA health records, in order to get a better handle on what the fuck is causing all this cancer. All of it was supposed to be overseen by the National Academy of Sciences, but if they can't do it that's ok, in that case Congress ordered them to give the contract to a non-profit and have them do the study. Expecting Trump's National Academy of Sciences to get anything done by 2027 is a farce, so there's a big fat contract that's going to come up later this year.
Separately, whoever is talking to these vets, collecting records and looking the data, will not be working for the Government. This is an opportunity for everyone who ever deployed anywhere to lawyer up and make sure the Government honors its obligation to the troops. |
