I think the Starfox re-release does one thing in that it points out how these things are obviously for kids. Meanwhile, how many people 40+ are buying and playing it and wondering why "it's not good." lol it's for 10 year olds to play. That's really it.

I don’t get how internet echo chambers lost sight of this. Like in 1997 it was ignominious to be a teen playing “the video games.” It shouldn’t magically get less ignominious just because “the average gamer is 36” or some BS. Peppy is canonically 41 btw which probably triggers millennials.

I mean you have said it many times, Millennial Losers are a big problem.
I actually have no beef with people enjoying games, including shit like Starfox or some of the family friendly 2-D Mario games. But these freaks complaining about them or making their lives these games are just totally insane.

It’s a weird echo chamber. It is. The 1990s Household Chamber vibe was like, “gaming is ignominious, why didn’t you make All-Stars, go Play Outside ffs.” Games had to be good enough to outweigh the ignominy. THAT’s the difference.
You go the whole game Sitting in a cockpit and don’t see the legs much at all. Naturally, check Reddit and they’re discussing the State of Character Models.
I had a Reddit subthread where I had a back and forth with some guy who Struggled at video games until his 20s. Doesn’t that read as developmental disability? We aren’t talking about Myst. Or Riven (the sequel to Myst).

I bet it Shipped 875,000k units. Fucking DK Bananza was the Only Game and only did 4-5 million. People bought Switch 2 as a hardware unit for its own sake. My Switch 1 died basically with probably fewer hours than 96% of Reddit posters.

btw I'm savoring FF7R because millennial Losers are a HORRIBLE cohort to try to sell to and I think game "publishers" are going to realize it and Stop Caring and go all-in on zoomers and mobile BS. The millennial Losers criticize the fuck out of everything and don't even buy it anyway because they can't afford it anyway. If something Stupid as hell happens in a cutscene I just ignore it and look at xo on my phone. Why do these Losers want everything to be exactly perfect. They are going to get No Games ever again. The only Reprieve will be Indies.

Agreed. Like I didn’t love the last FF7 remake game, but i also have an actual Life with actual shit to do. I’m not going to rent and rave about how “bad” it is online, I’m just going to do other shit.
But then again, I am not one of these godawful shitlennials and I can just appreciate games for what they are.

I enjoyed the gameplay.
Nibelheim incident vibe was unbelievably 180 on the original. had no idea wtf was happening and was good enough to keep you playing until like 2am. a triumph. don't know why they didn't keep certain things like the Angles in the Staircase or the mad scientist vibe in the basement. but I mean jesus fucking christ, at some point you're just an autist yelling at clouds who wants everything to be The Same because autists are legitimately dismayed by Change. The people making these Games have Egos and want to things Differently for no reason or for oblique Japanese cultural reasons that we don't understand at all.

lol yes the original Nibelheim portion of the game was the GOAT POTUS of gaming as a kid. Absolutely unrivaled mystery and atmosphere. And the payoff of the Big Reveal later on was incredible.
I think a lot of the issues today come from the graphical abilities being so strong. It leaves little room for one’s imagination to fill in the blanks. And as part of this, I think game dev companies actually have less imaginative people in their ranks. Thus we are left with Graphics and fetch quests.
Date: June 27th, 2026 2:24 PM Author: Glittery Black Pozpig Roommate
Graphics are actually the lacking part in some ways. Like the random crowds NPCs just look like random normies. Midgar’s slums aren’t Scummy enough. Kalm isn’t provincial enough. Graphics or “presentation” are also the problem with Nibelheim
Nibelheim also gets spoiled basically but I guess everyone knows already
Date: June 27th, 2026 2:45 PM Author: Richard Ames
Agree fully. There is a sort of “inside baseball” approach to the remakes that hurts the game overall. And the issue with the graphics is just that - they have gotten so easy to be good that all the creative thought is sucked out. Obviously the people in the slums should be epic scumbags, but the 10,000k employees working on the game aren’t capable of such a thought. And the sheer size of the employee base will make it hard for anyone to Take Charge and Give Direction.
You should set up a Clique Consulting Company and consult with game devs. Excuse me, I mean a Klique Konsulting Kompany.

The FF7 remake has had its development troubles including a Prime 4 esque restart which was probably the reason why they decided to split it into 3 games in order to recoup some of the Cost. Anyway there is still room for auteurs in Games. The Death Stranding games are very metal gear esque. Stuff like the motion capture is inexplicably Kojima esque. It’s not like Kojima is haplessly unable to control anything. Western devs are another story. And square Enix just kind of sucks. The Emperor actually got involved at one point in settling the score with Nintendo and requiring the merger between Squaresoft and Enix.

I’m looking forward to playing it with my kids. They have a hard time getting into the games that I enjoyed as a kid because they’re just soooooo outdated from both a visual and controls standpoint.

Tomb Raider for sure. They also didn’t get on with some of the earlier 3D titles. There was some Sonic game on Dreamcast that we tried on an emulator. It was atrocious. N64 controllers and GameCube controllers seem to genuinely offend them as well. I also still had my Gen 1 Xbox with the GIANT controllers and it used to be comical watching an elementary schooler try to paw those things.

The character development is great. They really give you a lot of fun lil insights into the relationships and story in a very economical way. Shit like Wolf being annoyed with nepo baby Andrew, Fox being resentful/admiring of his Dad (who was a shitty businessman but good pilot), Falco being cocky but Secretly Heart of Gold, we love to see it.
the soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road. it's awesome.
I think the multi has big potential, i've only done it against bots right now to get a feel for it, but I like the set up and the potential and love dogfighting generally.
I think the future for the series is something like this - keep the on rails/arcadey sections, but greatly expand the offerings and all range mode levels. I would like to open up the all range mode with bigger stages where you can really use altitude to your advantage (maybe play with physics--like add a gravity component where climbing takes more burn). And it would be cool if you had a set of squadron commands where you could set objectives for your wingmates.

When multiple users report your posts as spam, we review them. If your post is mostly ramblings, has no point, or has nothing of substance to add to this community, then it's considered spam.
Does this make sense?
And one other thing I'd like to mention about your post, since you've messaged us-- if you're going to mention that you got banned, it would be appreciated if you were honest and clear about the reason. You were given very clear warnings prior to, and at the time you were banned.
Frankly, it is ridiculous that you have a rap sheet on Reddit that's 56 items long, especially when you consider that's since April 22nd. That's 54 times that the Mod team (or Reddit's automatic functions) have had to address or redirect your posts or comments within this community over the course of 3 months. This is unacceptable, cowgod. We have been more than patient with you, but we're out.
Quit posting low value, scattered, pointless, or meaningless posts. This is your final warning.

Dear moderator,
A “rap sheet” built from user reports is proof that people complained and you counted the complaints. Nothing more. I also take exception to your claim that my posts are “low value, scattered, pointless, or meaningless.” Frankly, I am quite proud of my Posts and put a ton of effort into them. Show me the low-value post. Not the report count. Not the complaint history. The Post. One single Post that doesn't live up to the standard of the Community.
A sourced thread about Star Fox sales is not meaningless because the sales are bad. It's not pointless because people dislike the point. It's not spam because the room saw the truth and was Afraid what it meant.
My posts have substance. They have angles. They have sources. They create discussion in a community that too often feels run-down, thin, and allergic to anything beyond fan-club maintenance.
If the standard is "do not upset the lowest common denominator," I read the message loud and clear. If you want to dress that up as quality control, then, well, 'nuff said.
From one Moderator to another btw, I appreciate what you do. People have no idea how much work Moderating requires. Keeping a community usable is real labor imho, and it's easy for people to underestimate how much quiet, repetitive, unglamorous work goes into it. 'Nuff said.
