Does anyone actually drink champagne at a jewlery store?

Yes. I'm very connected to the high-end jewelry business.
No one really just shows up to drink at jewelry stores. But the booze is flowing at a lot of jewelry events, and you'll get a glass of champagne, or coffee, tea, etc. if you go to a Fifth or Madison Ave jeweler. (A goy place, not 47th street.) Same for watch events. I was at a high end watch event recently at a dealer that had a super premium bar, catered food, etc. I go to the holiday party for a high end jewelry company and it's over the top--think high end cocktails, acrobats and women in swings from the ceiling, fire breathers, etc. And if you go to the top events for big brants (LVMH, Richemont, etc.) they have grammy winners performing and celebrity guests. Fashion week events are good too if you can get invited.
