When it comes to the children of established billionaires, a lot of them have shockingly little access to capital and certainly can't buy megayachts/planes, they often can't even afford nice hotels. A friend whose father owned multiple pro sports teams was dating a female friend of mine and after they broke up she told me he'd need to like get permission from his parents before they could even go to dinner since it'd end up on their card LMAO.
On the GIGAYACHT Q, was thinking about this on the dive boat ride back to town from Ile Fourchue and how demoralizing playing that game must be. You need to get to ENORMOUS size to make living on the boat even close to as comfortable as being on land in a huge villa or a great hotel, plus you lose privacy with all the staff underfoot and when you look at all these floating palaces, you might see one that's 200 feet or whatever and in a vaccum you're like "oh nice," but then you see there's a 350 footer close by and even if you know it's dumb all you can think when you look at the 200 footer is "well I guess it's OK, but THAT one is nice." Generally people buying these boats aren't super into boating, it's a flex and it must be HUMILIATING to spend all that $ and know the guests heading out to your boat in a launch are prob just thinking "wow look how much nicer that other boat is." |

Maybe they have a great apartment that's probably owned by a trust or something, but a lot of them have really no access to $. Another ethnic dork billionaire kid just flies around on his dad's jet and posts about it all the time and runs a vanity fund his dad supports so he can post dinners and "meetings" and go to "conferences" and pretend to be a big business boi. I would have more respect from him if he was chill and leaned into just enjoying life.
I used to hang out w Eduardo Saverin back in the day and TBH he doesn't even do anything WILD and never did, even though he obv could have afforded to. Super nice, chill and down to Earth guy. |
