People forget the first model DS was an ugly, bulky, frontlit piece or shit with bad screens, and the early games were n64 ports that ran at like 140p resolution. Then the DS lite came out and it was better with real backlit screens and the library began to fill out, then they released the DSi that was actually good but the system was dead by them imo.

It had 2 bad Zelda games and 2 bad Metroid games and a bad Mario Kart game etc. But it somehow sold millions of consoles. There were also billions of shovelware games like Hannah Montana Horseback Hoedown that they'd sell for 4.99 at grocery stores and it got many females into gaming to all of our detriment

These are all terrible imo. At least Game Boy and GBA could be played at home on a TV. GBA with the Shitcube player was basically Nintendo Switch.

Btw Mother 3 came out in 2006 but was only released for GBA. And Japan only. They wouldn’t deign to release on a Lower console.

And that’s fine as long as you don’t sit around expecting them to Entertain you. That just leads to ignominy. Or shit like fanboys overrating Metroid Prime out of desperation.

I was thinking about GameCube (as I often do) and it just felt like they forgot there was going to be a console gen. Like they were in denial or something. People call Sunshine “rushed.” It’s like they forgot they needed to make a game and rushed it. You’d think it had 5 years of development but nah.

OP do you like Switch 1? I like that you can just play Normal Games on it without any 2-screen bullshit or motion control bullshit. but if you want, it has motion controls basically on par with Wii.

imo for Switch 2 they should've brought back the Wii U 2 screen stuff. iirc some games made good use of it. Madden was said to make good use of it but it sold literally zero copies because of how Losery the fans are. There are millions of Madden Wii U discs buried in a desert somewhere.

Yes switch 1 was good and had a really good library imo of 1st party games plus Japanese gems and shmups and indie pixel art 2d metroidvania slop it was the last hurrah of gaming imo I even have a big backlog of physical games including a lot of the limited print ones, and the switch 2 is a disaster. I hate all the gimmick stuff they do & they always do it after a successful console, they can't just keep things normal.

Gamecube was pretty Normal except for the controller, handle, discs, and the "no games" gimmick.
