Historical epic about the Guarani War in Paraguay starring Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro. Great location footage, 180 soundtrack by Ennio Morricone but something about this just doesn't come together. Which is probably why despite winning a Palme d'Or at Cannes, no one talks about it. It's still worth a watch if you're in the mood for this kind of thing.
Also, you couldn't make this movie today because the Catholics are portrayed as good guys.
