really irritates me that companies make delivery drivers photograph deliveries

ive never lied about a stolen package. companies didnt like to refund your money when there's proof of delivery, even without a photo.
much easier to claim an item was missing from inside the package.

true but i thought we were talking about the current labor conditions for drivers who are literally being undercut by illegals who are working under a rented account while everything is ever more expensive and capital is taking larger and larger shares of the pie for itself while labor is left reeling

how amazon etc get around the problem of the Jew is not my concern, odd case but it seems like that's a problem that they created and they should probably figure it out without screwing people over or treading on my privacy

it's not the physical toll, its the spirtual toll.
even working on a chain gang lets you feel like a human being. you have a boss, you have coworkers, and your labor is adding visible value that you can feel proud of. being an appslave is taking orders from a screen, being completely isolated, and your job probably makes the world worse -- delivering slop to lazy pigs.
imagine cool hand luke but its a bunch of losers doing ubereats.

relatedly, ive poasted before that i think it's an invasion of privacy for these carrier to take photos of my property and retain photos of my property forever. i dont consent to it -- the sender chose the carrier, not me. im not sure what legal grounds i would have to stop them

ive wondered of any sort of anti-gc revolution will ever be possible considering even our poorest will have food and shelter. usually these things are preceded by conditions so intolerable that people have little choice.
is there some level of human dignity people will find intolerable? unlike slave-slaves, wage slaves aren't as subject to physical coercion. or will we just boil the frog and wind up in some cyberpunk dystopia?
idk but if i was a app wagie i would probably wind up a mass shooter. it's so inhuman.

what about white collar workers?
if ur biglaw or the like and expected to check your phone all the time anyway, why would u want to drag around a 2nd phone?
if you have a cushy office job where there's no expectation to read and respond to stuff after hours, i still am not sure id want a second phone. i'd just turn off alerts so i dont see no emails after hours.

if you're not reading emails after work hours there's no need for a company device period. however, ime even in lawfirms people take the company laptop or phone when it's available.
but this is more about proles, and if they're doing ubereats that means they've likely got a cracked 10 year old phone and/or constantly getting it disconnected. they would absolutely love a company phone just for the work security, plus not being on the hook for tech gaffes.
just like company cars and other perks, the reasons these things are disappearing is because the cost of it is being pushed onto the worker. the reason uber doesn't offer it's on fleet of cars with built in software is because it's cheaper to have pablo pick you up in his car using his phone. pablo definitely would prefer not to be shouldering these costs, even if having two phones is very mildly inconvenient.

travel, appointments/errands during the workday, the occasional pre-planned weekend emergency etc.
my wife's job is like that. she brings her work phone with her when she runs errands during the workday.
she's rather not have to lug around two phones
but we diverge. i see your point re proles.

yeah, i'm the same way. the biggest factors are
1) you're wife and i don't actually carry around multiple devices. if we had them, we'd just use them at home when we needed them.
2) the biggest factor is that we're white collar wage earners and aren't one broken cellphone away from not being able to work at all. we have companies that respect and value us more than a appslave, so if there's a tech issue we're gonna get more grace. if julio doesn't deliver your bigmac because his phone crashed that's on him and some algo will boot him. if my pc crashes and i'm late to a zoom call it's nbd. also we're compensated enough (and usually $$$ to buy tech) that there's less of a sting when companies unload those costs onto us.
but if i switched places with a negative checking account balance ubereats guy and had to decide between using my phone or having a company phone, i'm going with the convenience and reliability of their phone. the only thing that "outweighs" that is convenience, and how inconvenient is it anyway? it just stays in the car, it's not like they carry it around on their person when they're not looking for work.

deport all illegals and the cost of delivery goes through the roof, making this service one for the upper crust
middle class goes back to eating better food at home, reducing weight issues

Really incredible to see anyone defending these wage slave apps. Should be obvious, but there are a number of glaring issues with Door Dash, Uber, etc. that anyone poasting on this forum should understand.
DoorDash, Uber, and similar "companies" remain structurally unprofitable despite enormous scale, capital, and talent. Their “innovation” largely consists of layering fees, subscriptions, and pricing games onto local commerce rather than meaningfully improving underlying economics.
Unlike traditional industries that are forced to internalize externalities, these companies offload real costs onto workers, small businesses, and local economies while capturing value centrally. The result is a transfer of wealth out of communities under the guise of convenience and “tech.”
Whatever marginal logistical value the software provides is dwarfed by the rents extracted. In practice, these platforms function as private toll booths on everyday transactions — a model that only works by squeezing drivers and restaurants harder over time.
The most outrageous part is how much capital and intellectual effort has been devoted to optimizing this extraction, producing relatively modest profits while hollowing out local economic communities. And all for what? To enrich maybe a few dozen people that were involved in the founding and early funding rounds of these companies?
Give me a fucking break.

i agree with all this. but some industries deserve it more than others.
the old system of ordering food directly from a restaurant was perfectly fine, even if not so convenient.
pre-rideshareapps, taxis were SPS corrupt cartel monopoly pieces of shit and were generally miserable

you mean you want liberal urban governments to run the rideshare app system in mfh and other major cities? that sounds like a third terrible choice.

No. I'm arguing that the software layer shouldn't be a private monopoly.
I think a better way is an open source, non-profit infrastructure that restaurants and drivers can use directly (or through local operators.) Eliminating the extraction of the current apps without recreating taxi cartels or bureaucratic control.
The problem we currently face is a zero value-add intermediary permanently taxing local commerce. And even with effective monopoly power, it can only just barely eke out a profit here and there.
The underlying technology can absolutely add value. The problem is when it’s inseparable from a monopoly for-profit structure whose only sustainable path is extraction.

this is typical commie mentality, just destroy anything cause it doesnt fit into ur faggot liberal worldview (that is impossible to exist on earth but whateveR)
these faggot losers who work these app jerbs wldnt do it if there was something better, the fact is they make more money doing it than other work, or they wld have to work harder at a real jerb to make more like construction
so they do this shit, its mindless braindead work and the "hours" they work are BS cause its mostly sitting arnd in an AC resto waiting for food playing on their faggot phone
its absurd this is how socialists are, they do this shit even in india, these app fags wld be working in 120 degree heat on a farm if they didnt have app jerbs but indian shit libs still whine
