Just to chill and explore somewhere scenic with wife and daughter in Jan or feb. would consider Palm Springs and Joshua tree too since I’ve never been out there either

Huge recent thread on NM with great tips. It's a weird place imo. Nowhere to just hang out for 7 days. It's for road tripping. Sedona is the only one here for hanging out for 7 days with family

I’m ok with a little bit of road tripping if the distances between places are 1-2.5 hours but yeah I think something chill like Sedona would be more cr

Sedona is 180 imo and if you stay somewhere on the far west you can easily go to cottonwood Jerome and Prescott which are all cool places. Nice little tight vacation.

The only thing that sucks about Sedona is there is only one road through town so it takes 4 hours to travel 2 miles. And you have to park 3 miles from the base of any good hiking trail bc it's so popular

sedona is gorgeous but very small and insanely overcrowded. flagstaff is a nice day trip and grand canyon is within a couple hours. sedona is bougie as shit and has all the UMC amenities. you could do a 180 hike every day but you'll get bored with the town in a day or two. this seems a little small for ten days unless you LOVE hiking and new age bullshit.

zion is gorgeous but kind of in the middle of nowhere. you can make a day trip to escalante or vegas or bryce canyon. this is much more of a rural trip. seems like a bad time to go there, you certainly wouldn't be hiking the narrows and if the weather is bad enough you'd be shut-in in a dumpy town with no options. for that risk alone, i think this is a summer trip.

new mexico is too broad a category unless you love driving around all day long. most people stick to the north, abq, santa fe, and taos, and those three could fill your schedule especially if you're skiing. plenty of bougie stuff, spas and fancy restaurants in santa fe. if you have more time silver city and ruidoso are both great, white sands too, and lots of people like going to roswell for alien stuff but it's a total dump.

Ty. I’ll narrow down my choices to Sedona or north New Mexico and do a little research
