I'm listening to his podcast where he interviews contemporary thinkers and he's operating at a very high level. He dominates many of his guests by dropping hints that he's at least as well read as they are about certain topics. Like he knows the limits of their knowledge and he pushes them there and keeps them there throughout the whole show. He is also a big classicist and has done his homework on ancient history.
