A digital rust, a creeping decay,
Where user and value have drifted away.
The bright promises, a shimmering lie,
As tech titans feast with a cold, hungry eye.
No grand scheme hatched in villainous glee,
But small, shifting choices for profit, you see.
Enshittification, a slow, subtle blight,
Dimming the screens and stealing the light.
We're lab rats and interns, a harvest of data,
Exploited and prodded, a digital crater.
A constant annoyance, a subtle abuse,
Lost in the algorithms, of little use.
Spotify reshaped, Sonos stripped bare,
Facebook’s chaos, a weight hard to bear.
Each update a nudge toward more gain,
While user experience dissolves in the rain.
A laptop for $238, slow and distressed,
Laden with bloatware, a digital mess.
A constant barrage, a relentless demand,
For data, for clicks, for control at their hand.
The Rot Economy spreads, a cancerous bloom,
Growth at all costs, sealing our doom.
From Microsoft's grip to Meta's decree,
A cartel of comfortlessness, for you and for me.
So wake from the slumber, the numb, quiet plea,
Recognize the theft, and finally see.
We are not deficient, not lost to the age,
But victims of greed on a digital stage.
Let knowledge be power, a voice in the fray,
Name the culprits, and brighten the way.
For even in darkness, a spark can ignite,
And reclaim our digital future, and fight.
