The graduate and professional degrees now are truly unbelievable cost wise.
A huge percentage of the cost creep has to do with all these new useless positions caused by special interest activist pressure and the related pension costs.
At a certain point people need to admit that the UC system is abjectly failing its mission to the California people in nurturing native born talent for the state’s advancement and the welfare of its people long term.
The UC’s have turned into a boomer money grab pandering to foreign students and out of state students and are crippling people with unsustainably high debt loads. The state has money to restore funding to alleviate the tuition on in state students but they’re spending it on free heroin needles and other giveaways for a legion of migrant bums and prison sex change operations. |

So you have to pay an "incidental fee" but tuition is waived if in state.

In fact, pretty much all western countries have extremely cheap tuition ($2-4k per year) for state schools that are perfectly adequate, and in many cases excellent. The cost of an American university education is a joke. |
