- Giving kids 3 hours to finish a test instead of 2 seems fine to me. It doesn't affect the smart kids in anyway. But if that extra time helps a few of the edge cases to do better, that seems acceptable. I would also be ok with giving them 2.5 hours instead of 2. But not 4 hours instead of 2.
- Anything that fucks over the "special accommodation" assholes I am ok with. Give everyone a bit of extra time instead of just the kids of suburban white helicopter parents. |

Some poeple are SUPPOSED to score better than other people. If every kid in the country got a 1600, the test would be meaningless.
But they've done stupid shit like eliminating guessing penalties, making it more study-able, etc - and average scores have jumped 100 points.
But all that means is no you need a 1450 to get into Syracuse but a 1500 to get into Harvard - which essentially means the entire admissions process is random and/or dependent on how rich and connected your parents are - which is what the elite are really after. |
