Date: April 18th, 2024 5:03 PM Author: abnormal contagious school just dug into the bill and read some reports. it's mostly about air defense, munitions, and shit? what's the point? the emergency nature of this seems to be about ukraine running out of munitions to counter russian attacks. but it doesn't seem like anyone thinks that it'll enable ukraine to meaningfully push back russia. so, we're spending billions so ukraine can lose slower? or maintain a stalemate at best? and then what?
cia and zelensky both said ukraine will collapse by the end of the year without aid. what is the point of prolonging this? i guess the hope is is that after november the winds change for democrats and they can provide *MORE* support. so, we're just stalling for a bit and the only way ukraine turns the tides is direct intervention from the west? which no one is going to go for considering we can't even get aid passed?
just end this peacefully. at this rate russia will run them over and be able to dictate whatever it wants. |

either way, i think we agree that this just about weakening russia and maintaining us influence, and that prolonging the conflict is the goal with the aid, not ukraine actually winning. at this point i just don't see russia's war effort and production capacity slowing. |

Your other examples involve towns still close to the front lines where the approach has been to evacuate civilians to existing Russian cities, including Mariupol which is actively being rebuilt. You don't focus reconstruction on towns near the front line for what should be obvious reasons. |
