And I've participated in numerous threads about the disconnect between media coverage of campus protests and the lack thereof regarding the outrageous civilian-casualty levels.
All that said: do I 'like', 'relate to', or 'sympathize with' (or a personal level, not a cause level) these protesters? Of course not; virtually no one does. Dumb af buckwild student protesters, especially ivy league ones, are some of the most universally hated recurring figures in news media, regardless of what they're protesting. It's low-hanging fruit if you're, say, tom cotton.
E.g., while everyone thinks of Kent State as a tragedy, the sizable bipartisan majority of the American public at the time blamed the students and thought they got what they deserved. |
