FF12: Played for 5 minutes and decided it sucked FF13: Never played, the chorus of internet haters was too loud FF15: Played for 5 minutes and decided it sucked FF16: Played fora few hours and it's meh FF7 Remake: Bought it for $20 assuming it'd be terrible a la those "compilation" titles. The battle system is by far the best of any action RPG I've ever played. The stuff people complain about doesn't bother me at all (they want it to be The Same Game basically). Same for Rebirth - my main complaint is that the story is boring and meh at this point. The fandom's main complaint is that it's not The Same.
The 2024 internet zeitgeist loves turn-based. Afaik the only reason for this is Persona 5 plus people just hate the newer FF Titles. But in the 2000s turn-based was loathed by western gaming fans and they bullied Square into changing. |
