Some jurisdictions also include sexual orientation. There are also issues pertaining to disabilities, age discrimination, military service, and pregnancy.
None of these issues apply to a person who is fired (or not-hired, or un-hired) because the employer doesn't like his public image or what it learns about his personal non-religion related values. |

You, instead, facilitated the expression and publication of such language. . . . ” He wrote, his resignation from the site was “too late to ameliorate our concerns.” He asked that Ciolli respond in writing.

It's not PC bullshit - it's a free market. GTO chose to make a stand, and that's his call, but in doing so he chose to lessen his value in the BIGLAW marketplace. He may well have raised it in some other areas, but not in the arena of large law firms. People who can't see otherwise need to get out in the real business world for a while. I can't believe this really surprises anyone.
Edit: and just to clarify, I think he might be a nice addition for a high profile litigation boutique looking to make a bit of a splash around defense of freedom of speech, but not for the risk averse large law firm - at least not at this point. Also, I don't think this should be a C&F ding since I don't recall GTO making any inflammatory post himself that I can recall. I'm sure they will make him squirm, but I think he should be able to acquit himself there. |

Xoxo is a cesspool where many behave in a manner without regard to consequences whereas in the real world, associating with disreputable entities will have consequences which GTO ultimately found out.
GTO showed very poor judgement and business sense. Attaching his real name to this site was just plain dumb. Maybe he had good intentions in involving himself in the Auto Admit Studies portion of the board but he poorly judged what he was getting involved with in an overall sense. He should have realized he was attaching his name & reputation to the website as a WHOLE. Anyone with solid judgement figures this out. He should have realized how outside entities may view his involvement with this site. He should have realized two years ago as a 1L then moved on like many people on this board have once they realized how high the stakes are in terms of what they may lose by staying on this board. GTO played with fire way too long. I feel bad that he lost his job but he put himself in this situation. The real world/business world is a lot less forgiving than xoxo...GTO was made the poster child for how this site can screw up someone's future. It's pretty ironic that for all the nonsense that has transpired here unchecked over the years, it is one of the boards admins that suffered arguably the worst fate of all. |
